Stolen Valor
There’s another controversy surrounding Gov. Walz – his military record. Walz has repeatedly claimed that he left the National Guard with the rank of “command sergeant major.” That’s not true. He was temporarily assigned that rank, but was also demoted by the National Guard when he retired.
Another part of the controversy involves his actual combat service – or lack thereof. Walz has called for restrictions on Second Amendment rights by recalling his service in combat. He said, “We can make sure those weapons of war, that I carried in war, are only carried in war.”
There’s just one problem. Walz never fought in a war. When his National Guard unit was called up to go to Iraq, Walz asked for early retirement. He was the senior officer of his unit, and he retired when his men needed his experience the most.
