Romney's Rant

Utah Senator Mitt Romney wrote an opinion piece in the Washington Post over the weekend defending the Senate filibuster rule. As you know, Senate progressives want to get rid of the filibuster so they can ram through the most radical elements of their agenda on a pure party-line vote with Vice President Kamala Harris casting tie-breaking votes.

Sadly, it's clear that Romney still hates Donald Trump and the populist conservative movement. Even while defending the filibuster, Romney's column took repeated swipes at Trump. He closed his column with this absurd statement:

"There is a reasonable chance that Republicans could win both houses of Congress in the next election cycle and, further, that Donald Trump could be elected president once again in 2024. Have Democrats thought through what it would mean for them for Trump to be entirely unrestrained. . .? If Democrats eliminate the filibuster now, they — and the country — may soon regret it very much."

Remind me again: Whose side is Romney on? It sounds like he's suggesting that the country would regret Trump's agenda. Has he seen Joe Biden's approval ratings lately? Was he paying any attention at all Tuesday night?

Perhaps Senate Republicans can trade Mitt Romney for Joe Manchin.
