Ever since Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion in the Dobbs case was leaked two months ago, we’ve been deluged with polls purporting to show that American people oppose the decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Progressives are betting everything that they can prevail in the midterm elections if they can turn them into a referendum on abortion. 

As usual, the left-wing media provide absolutely no context to the polls. Most Americans aren’t constitutional scholars and don’t fully understand all the legal implications of Roe. They also don’t support abortion on demand, which is Joe Biden’s position and the official position of the Democrat Party.

That’s why the latest Harvard/Harris poll is so revealing. 

For example, the poll finds that 55% of Americans say they oppose the Dobbs decision.  You probably saw that in a headline recently. But when it comes to specific policies, here’s what the American people say they support:

• 37% support state laws banning abortions except in the cases of rape and incest.
• Another 12% would ban abortions after six weeks when a heartbeat is detected.
• And an additional 23% support banning abortions after 15 weeks, which was the Mississippi law at the heart of the Dobbs case.

Combined, that’s 72% of the country in favor of pro-life policies strictly limiting abortions. And, in spite of all the hyperbolic rhetoric from the left, 60% of self-identified Democrats support those restrictions! 

Only 10% of Americans support the extreme position of abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy. Again, that is Joe Biden’s position. 

Once again, the media is failing to tell the full story, while providing cover for the left’s pro-abortion extremism.
