Left-wing Anti-Semitism

Dozens of radical, left-wing organizations will be protesting this weekend in Washington, D.C. They're protesting yesterday's defeat of the latest attempt by Senate Democrats to nationalize all election laws. 

But one of the more extreme environmental groups, the Washington, D.C., chapter of the Sunrise Movement, is refusing to participate in the protest. Why? Because Jews will be at the protest. Oh, the horror!

Sunrise DC issued a statement saying it could not participate in the Freedom to Vote rally "due to the participation of a number of Zionist organizations." The group added: 

"We will continue to fight for statehood for DC in the United States and for the liberation of Palestine. Given our commitment to racial justice, self-governance, and indigenous sovereignty, we oppose Zionism and any state that enforces its ideology."

Seriously, folks, you can't make this up. These aren't right-wing, pro-Likud Jewish groups going to the protest, but liberal, progressive American Jewish groups that would agree with the Sunrise Movement on virtually every issue. 

But the DC Sunrise Movement apparently won't participate in any left-wing protest unless it is "Judenrein" or "Jew free" as the Nazis used to say.

Let's be clear about this: Anti-Zionism IS anti-Semitism.

Groups that oppose Zionism oppose Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state. It's that simple. There are more than 50 nations in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Does Sunrise DC insist that any of those nations are not allowed to be Islamic? Of course not. 

So why does Sunrise DC only have a problem with the world's only Jewish state? That's anti-Semitism.

But the point is not that Sunrise DC is crazy, which it is. The real point is it that this kind of blatant anti-Semitism is increasingly the default position of the left. We saw it in the Women's March. We've seen it in various "gay pride" groups. We're seeing it more and more among progressive politicians.

Will Joe Biden, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders and AOC condemn Sunrise DC today? I'm not holding my breath.
