Election Misinformation
Many on the left and even some on Fox News are pushing the narrative that a sizeable percentage of Haley voters won’t vote for Donald Trump. There must be something wrong with that polling because a new national poll has Trump leading Biden by six points.
If a significant percentage of Haley voters won’t support Trump, then this poll is wrong. Both polls can’t be true.
Some are also saying that if Trump can’t get a major part of the GOP vote, then Republicans need another nominee, someone like Nikki Haley. That analysis assumes that the overwhelming majority of Trump supporters will vote for someone like Haley.
But that’s not true. In fact, the phenomenon they are worried about is actually more likely in the opposite direction.
For example, the Texas poll found that in a Biden/Haley race, 21% of Texas voters said they would vote for someone else. In a Biden/Trump race, just 7% said they would vote for someone else. I believe that’s true all over the country.
The evidence clearly suggests that it will be much easier to get reluctant Republicans who aren’t crazy about Trump to come around than it will be to get the MAGA movement to fall in line behind another establishment candidate.
