Drone Debacle

The way the government is handling the news that mystery drones are flying all over the country is another example of why there is such declining confidence in the people who are supposed to keep us safe.

Yesterday, three top officials from various government agencies testified before a House Homeland Security subcommittee about the troubling drones. The FBI assistant director said we know absolutely nothing about them but still suggested that they pose no risk. If he doesn’t know anything, how can he say there is no risk?

We just sent $1 billion to Ukraine, but we can’t stop drones from flying over our military bases? How is that possible?

Rep. Chris Smith of New Jersey is a good man. I have worked with him many times. He spoke with a top Coast Guard officer who told him that “one of their 47-foot vessels was trailed very closely by more than a dozen drones” that were “the size of a car.”

A local law enforcement officer also told Rep. Smith that he saw at least 50 drones approaching the shoreline from the ocean. Smith is demanding that a nearby Air Force base shoot one of them down so we can try to learn something about them.

I certainly hope they do. New Jersey Rep. Jeff Van Drew says he has been told by “very high, qualified, and responsible sources” that these are likely Iranian drones launched from a ship off our coast. The Pentagon disputes that. So, what exactly does the Pentagon know?

Some have suggested, and I agree, that the governor of New Jersey should declare a state of emergency. If the weekend weather forecast called for six inches of snow in New Jersey, he would declare an emergency.

But swarms of massive unknown drones flying all over the state isn’t an emergency?

One expert said yesterday that we might be facing another Pearl Harbor-like attack or worse. I can’t stop thinking about previous reports that thousands of military-aged Chinese men suddenly started coming across the southern border.

Is there no one in the government who thinks this is worth investigating?

China policy expert Gordon Chang has warned that communist China could be easily deploying a military unit inside the U.S. or at least hundreds of saboteurs. That sounds far-fetched, but so did the idea of using domestic aircraft as weapons of mass destruction as happened on 9/11.

By the way, do you remember the illegal Chinese biolab with deadly pathogens in central California? The feds initially weren’t interested in it at all. Certainly sounds interesting to me.
