Bye, Bye Liz

Liz Cheney’s political career went down in flames last night. The extent of her utter defeat in the Wyoming Republican primary is absolutely stunning!

She lost by 37 points to Trump-endorsed conservative Harriett Hageman – 66% to 29%. As an incumbent officeholder, it’s shocking that Cheney couldn’t even break 30%!

Cheney’s defeat is all the more remarkable when you consider the fact that she raised more than $15 million. For perspective, that’s about seven times more than the winner of the 2020 Wyoming Senate race! Hageman had just a fraction of that.

Of course, much of Cheney’s money came from the Bush/Rove wing of the GOP establishment. John Kasich and Mitt Romney were cheering for her.

She had support from wealthy Democrats from all over the country. Democrat members of Congress endorsed her. And Cheney even turned to Democrat voters to “save her hide,” as Politico put it.

Yet, even in the wake of this humiliating defeat, Cheney’s ego knows no limits. In her so-called “concession speech,” Liz Cheney compared herself to Abraham Lincoln.

She also quoted from Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address, where he declared, “That this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom and a government of the people, by the people and for the people.”

Cheney made it clear that she is either going to run in the GOP presidential primary or run on a third party ticket in 2024. Believe it or not, Cheney has already transferred the remainder of her campaign cash into a new political organization dedicated to mobilizing “a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump campaign for president.” Like we needed another anti-Trump effort.

With the help of liberal elites and NeverTrumpers, Cheney is now pursuing a path that could hand the country to the radical left, that is likely to doom any chance that America will have a “new birth of freedom” or a government “of the people, by the people and for the people.”

What selfish arrogance!

Let me remind you again that this isn’t just about Donald Trump. I know Trump is not the first choice of some conservatives. But Liz Cheney is naming other conservatives she refuses to accept, including Florida’s conservative governor.

I don’t know when Liz Cheney assumed she had the right to veto presidential nominees, but last night Wyoming Republicans vetoed the leading RINO in the House of Representatives – Liz Cheney!
