Biden’s IRS Act

Yesterday, Senate Democrats passed yet another massive spending bill on a party-line vote of 50 to 50 with Vice President Harris casting the tie-breaking vote. There’s a lot of really bad things in the bill. But let’s start with the name. Progressives are calling this the “Inflation Reduction Act” or IRA Act. That’s a big lie. 

There are a couple of fundamental economic principles. One is that you can’t tax your way out of a recession, and this bill imposes a lot of new taxes. Second, you can’t spend your way out of an inflation crisis, and this bill increases spending by hundreds of billions of dollars.

Even liberals like Senators Bernie Sanders and Chris Coons admit that this bill won’t curb Biden’s runaway inflation. 

We could more accurately call this bill “Biden’s IRS Act.” Among other things, it funds an additional 87,000 IRS agents! For perspective, this massive increase in funding will make the IRS bureaucracy larger than the Pentagon, the FBI, the Border Patrol and the State Department – combined! 

Left-wing politicians insist that these additional agents will only target the “super rich.” Well, there are roughly 730 billionaires in the United States. If you do the math, that’s 119 new IRS agents per billionaire. 

We all know that Biden’s new army of IRS agents isn’t going to be harassing billionaires, but middle-class Americans.

In fact, Senate conservatives proposed an amendment to ensure that these new agents audited only wealthy individuals. Unfortunately, the amendment failed because every Senate liberal voted against it.
