Biden's Energy Crisis
I'm sure you've noticed that gas prices are going up – way up. In fact, they're going up at a record rate. A barrel of oil jumped $5.00 last night on the global market. Gas prices are up 40 cents in the past week, and they're quickly headed to record highs.
It won't be long before these soaring energy costs push our country into a recession, and I think it's important to understand how and why we got into this terrible position.
When Donald Trump left office, we were energy independent. America was a leading energy producer. Even during the height of the Trump economic boom in 2019 gas prices averaged just $2.60 – down from 2018. Wouldn't you like to be paying $2.60 a gallon for gas today?
But when Joe Biden took office, he literally walked into the White House after his inauguration and declared war on the American energy industry.
Among his "Day One" actions in the Oval Office was blocking a critical pipeline from Canada, and putting us back into the absurd Paris Climate Accord.
In the days that followed, he blocked permits for drilling on federal land, limited offshore permits, banned additional drilling in Alaska, and pushed higher taxes and more regulations on energy companies.
Not surprisingly, costs for gas and home heating oil went up as Joe Biden limited production and supply. But they didn't go up initially as much as experts predicted. Well, now we're finding out why.
The Biden Administration started buying record amounts of Russian oil. That's right – Biden started buying oil from Vladimir Putin. (What does Vlad have on Joe Biden?)
Biden is also trying to buy oil from Venezuela's Marxist dictator. He's trying to get oil from Libya and Saudi Arabia. He's even trying to cut a deal with the mullahs of Iran where we end sanctions on Iranian terrorists and human rights abusers and start buying their oil!
Let's be absolutely clear about that: Instead of siding with the hard-working men and women of the American energy industry, Biden is siding with foreign dictators.
Instead of doing business with Dallas, he's doing business with Moscow. Instead of doing business with Oklahoma City, he's doing business with Tehran.
It's bad enough that your family budget is being hammered by Biden's absurd energy policies. But they also contributed enormously to the current foreign policy crisis in Ukraine by funding Putin's war machine and making Europe dependent on Russian energy.
