Appeasing Iran

As we noted yesterday, President Biden is in Israel right now trying to resuscitate the failed Obama/Biden nuclear deal with Iran that Donald Trump ended. Israel reportedly got Biden to pledge that the United States is committed to preventing Iran from ever developing nuclear weapons.

I was concerned about the possible concessions Israel might have made in exchange for this commitment. My concerns were somewhat lessened when I saw this exchange between Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and President Biden. Lapid said:

“Words will not stop [the Iranians], Mr. President. Diplomacy will not stop them. The only thing that will stop Iran is knowing that if they continue to develop their nuclear program, the free world will use force.

“The only way to stop them is to put a credible military threat on the table. It should not be a bluff, but the real thing. The Iranian regime must know that if they continue to deceive the world, they will pay a heavy price.”

Unfortunately, Biden reiterated that he’s still talking to Tehran, saying, “I continue to believe that diplomacy is the best way to achieve this outcome.”

Why? Iran is the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism. There are new warnings that Iran is still plotting to assassinate U.S. officials. Why is Biden trying to reward them with massive sanctions relief?

What has the ayatollah done to warrant Biden’s trust? (Does Hunter have business dealings in Tehran too?)
