What This School is Doing to Ensure Equal Treatment

People of faith aren’t second-class citizens. Yet, the state of Colorado is treating Darren Patterson Christian Academy worse than secular schools based purely on its religious makeup. That’s not just wrong. It’s unconstitutional. That’s why, with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom, the school filed a lawsuit calling on courts to hold the state accountable for violating its fundamental freedoms. As Chief Justice Roberts wrote in the 2017 Trinity Lutheran decision: no state can deny “a qualified religious entity a public benefit solely because of its religious character.” It shouldn’t take a lawsuit for religious schools to be treated equally. The Supreme Court has made it very clear that religious bigotry has no place in America. It’s time for Colorado officials to start paying attention.
